Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to be based in Piscataway, New Jersey, with a Spring/Summer 2027 start. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities within the Transportation line as part of the DCS group.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree and a valid U.S. driver’s license, with preferred qualifications including EIT/FE, internship experience, and knowledge of reinforced concrete or structural steel design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• EIT/FE Certification or ability to obtain prior to the start date.
• Experience as an Intern, Co-op, or other professional development.
• Experience or education in reinforced concrete and/or structural steel design.
• Ability to work with a diverse team located in the Piscataway, NJ.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.
• Ability to multi-task and be flexible, along with ability to adapt to project deadlines.
• Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides specialized technical input to studies and designs for staff's specific areas of expertise.
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing the discipline component of the PS&E package.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
