Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Piscataway, NJ or New York City, NY, with a June 2027 start. This hands-on role offers exposure to diverse geotechnical projects and supportive mentorship in a global infrastructure firm.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering and EIT are preferred. Hybrid work and generous opportunities for growth are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and Geotechnical reports under supervision.
• Collects and analyzes data under supervision.
• Performs Geotechnical investigation collecting and describing soil/rock samples in the field.
• Creates soil profiles based on data collected during the subsurface investigation program.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems including foundation, retaining wall and support of excavation design, slope stability and seepage analysis.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Education
