Job summary

State of Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services seeks a strategic financial leader to direct the Program Services Unit within FTAA, shaping statewide fiscal policies and safeguarding the agency's financial integrity.

You will oversee financial management, GAAP compliance, and federal grant administration, lead an accounting team, and coordinate with program and institution fiscal areas statewide. Flexible hybrid work, with regular presence in Olympia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business with at least 30 quarter hours (20 semester hours) of accounting/finance courses.
• Ten years of professional accounting or auditing experience, preferably with governmental accounting and GAAP/GASB knowledge.
• Five years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a professional financial consultant in support of agency-wide accounting and financial systems.
• Coordinate activities with program and institution fiscal areas statewide across all administrations of the agency.
• Identify and analyze national accounting standards and federal/state regulations and determine the impact on the department.
• Assure appropriate and optimum use of the office's resources and enhance the effectiveness of employees through timely professional development opportunities.
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations, agency audits, federal grant awards, and federal grant draws and assist with the fiscal year close for DSHS.
