Job summary

Maher Duessel is seeking Experienced Staff Auditors to join our firm in State College, PA. You will perform detailed financial statement audits under supervision, with opportunities to lead small audits as you grow.

The role features a focus on government and non-profit clients and a hybrid work schedule. Qualified candidates will have an accounting degree and CPA eligibility, at least 1 year of public accounting experience, and proficiency with Caseware, RIA Checkpoint, CCH, and Practice

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or eligible to become licensed as a CPA
• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting
• Government and non-profit audit experience preferred
• Proficiency with firm technology including Caseware, RIA Checkpoint, CCH, and Practice Engine
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Willingness to travel and adjust hours as needed
• Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients and firm staff with a strong work ethic
• Stay informed of developments in government and non-profit industries
• Communicate audit status and issues to team leaders
• Identify risks and bring them to attention of supervisors
• Contribute ideas and listen to team perspectives
• Work independently without daily supervision
• Accept assignments in audit areas and complete them timely
• Examine past procedures and enhance audit techniques
• Understand and prepare basic financial statements
• Recognize need for overtime to complete engagements
• Aim to pass the CPA exam
