Job summary

The Mortgage Law Firm, located in Temecula, CA, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting department. This role focuses on general ledger integrity, month-end closing, and trust account reconciliation within a regulated environment.

You will work closely with senior accounting staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, adherence to GAAP, and process improvements in a hybrid Temecula office setting. A strong eye for detail and collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience with emphasis on general ledger processes.
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct and advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Analytical and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy of entries made by A/P and A/R teams, providing oversight and support to maintain compliance and reduce errors.
• Assist with the Month-End Closing process, including preparing and posting adjusting journal entries.
• Maintain and reconcile multiple Trust Account ledgers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state requirements.
• Validate and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and client reimbursable accounts.
• Run and analyze monthly invoice audits.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses and assist in preparing financial reports as needed.
• Collaborate with the Sr. Staff Accountant and Director of Accounting to address workflow improvements.
• Complete other projects and duties as assigned.
