Job summary

Mortgage Bankers Association in Washington, DC (Hybrid) is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Finance Department with general ledger reconciliation, financial reporting, and audit support. The role processes AR/AP, bank reconciliations, and journal entries to ensure GAAP conformance and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance plus 2+ years accounting experience, nonprofit experience preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite and Aptify AMS is a plus.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills required.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and apply GAAP principles.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts receivable and/or accounts payable batches.
• Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledger.
• Generate monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
• Update fixed asset schedules and depreciation/amor­tization entries.
• Support annual audit process with documentation.
• Review budgets and assist with variance analysis and 1099 records.
