Job summary

Fortress Information Security is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of critical systems. The role focuses on moving from traditional Ansible deployments to containerized setups across AWS and on-prem environments, strengthening CI/CD, and enabling advanced deployment strategies.

You will build testing environments for release cycles, migrate secrets to Vault, and automate provisioning while supporting development, QA, and UAT efforts.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years in an SRE/DevOps role supporting production systems.
• Production experience with Linux-based infrastructure and AWS services.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins and Terraform.
• Excellent documentation skills for rapid onboarding.
• Experience implementing rolling upgrades (canary/blue-green).
• Strong scripting and tooling (Bash, Python, JS).
• Self-motivated with strong time management and problem-solving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Active clearance preferred; ability to obtain/maintain U.S. security clearance.
• Willingness to work onsite in Patuxent River, MD up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Transition applications from non-containerized Ansible deployments to containerized deployments in AWS and on-premises.
• Enhance CI/CD to support Blue/Green and Canary deployment strategies.
• Build environments to test releases across the development lifecycle.
• Improve infrastructure for CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and cluster management.
• Migrate secrets/config from Ansible Vault to Hashicorp Vault.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning during deployment.
• Handle code deployments across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Implement monitoring/alerting for service level metrics and objectives.
• Provide technical guidance and educate team members on DevOps practices.
• Monitor systems for availability and performance; support daytime and after-hours releases.
