Job summary

Orange County Government is seeking a Database Administrator to install, configure, maintain, and secure County database systems. You will support disaster recovery, backups, performance monitoring, and security improvements across multiple environments.

The role involves collaborating with developers on database design, tuning, and standards, while investigating new industry tools. A hybrid work schedule and in-office days in Hillsborough, NC are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, or related field and 5 years in server/db administration, incl. MS SQL with security, backups/restores.
• Experience with SSRS reports and data visualizations using Power BI is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and secure County database systems across versions/environments.
• Enhance security, automation, query scripting, monitoring, and alerting for databases.
• Support developers with proper DB design, configuration, standards, tuning, and optimization.
• Investigate new industry tools and methodologies for current and future use.
• Work hybrid with on-site days; must be able to commute to Hillsborough, NC.
