Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Patient Financial Advocate (PRN Hybrid) for the Southlake Campus. You will act as a financial advocate, securing authorizations, pursuing copay assistance, and coordinating free drug programs to help patients access specialty medications.

Responsibilities include communicating insurance requirements, following policy procedures, and documenting all activities in the EMR while maintaining high quality patient service.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills in patient interactions and documentation.
• Experience with insurance authorizations and financial assistance workflows preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient information to complete benefits investigations within set timeframes.
• Interprets Medicare/Medicaid rules and communicates implications to patients.
• Ensures billing accuracy for specialty medications and completes required insurance authorizations.
• Follows up with insurers for denials and inquiries to resolve accounts.
• Secures copay assistance and manufacturer programs for eligible patients.
• Documents activities in the electronic medical record per policy.
• Contacts patients proactively to resolve coverage and financial information gaps.
• Collaborates with pharmacists and clinic staff to resolve insurance issues.
• Reviews monthly reports for opportunities and process improvements.
