Job summary

Crew is seeking a detail-oriented QA/Print Production Support role in Corte Madera, CA. The position combines software QA with print production quality checks and color-management tasks, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and process documentation.

Responsibilities include participating in requirements discussions, manual testing of Galaxy-based workflows, and learning the end-to-end premedia and prepress processes. Onsite presence 2–3 days weekly is required.

Location: CA-Corte Madera, Hybrid 3-4 days onsite

Crew software engineering associates use a variety of technologies in Agile and lean startup methodologies to automate manual processes, create microsites, learn new technologies, and everything in between.

Responsibilities
  • Primary-Software Quality Assurance
    • Participate in business-requirements meetings, listen carefully, ask clarifying questions, and learn how requested functionality supports business outcomes and user workflows
    • Develop a working knowledge of the Galaxy application, its surrounding Claris FileMaker/Apple ecosystem, business processes, data relationships, and downstream outputs
    • Under the guidance of the business analyst and Galaxy developer, perform hands-on manual functional and regression testing of new functionality, system enhancements, bug fixes, and existing workflows
    • Learn to create, maintain, and execute clear test scenarios, test cases, and repeatable regression-test documentation
    • Validate that application behavior, data, calculations, business rules, and outputs meet documented requirements and user expectations
    • Pay close attention to visual, content, and data differences; quickly identify subtle discrepancies that could affect pricing, product information, signage, catalogs, or other business-critical outputs
    • Identify, reproduce, document, and communicate defects clearly, including expected results, actual results, evidence, and steps to reproduce
    • Collaborate closely with the business analyst and Galaxy developer to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, evaluate test implications, and verify resolutions
    • Retest resolved defects and confirm that changes have not negatively affected existing functionality or connected workflows
    • Follow established QA practices and help document clear, practical, and repeatable testing processes as knowledge develops
  • Secondary- Print Production, Prepress, and Color Management
    • No premedia, prepress, color-management or print-production background is required, skills will be taught over time by the department manager
    • Gradually learn the complete premedia and prepress workflow for catalogs, source books, and other printed materials, including the portions of the process performed within Galaxy
    • Perform detailed prepress quality checks to confirm that production files are accurate, complete, consistent, and ready for printing
    • Learn and apply the organization's colorization standards, color-management rules, proofing methods, and quality-control expectations
    • Compare proofs and production outputs carefully, noticing even small differences in color, content, placement, consistency, or overall print quality
    • Support press checks and work with internal stakeholders and print-production partners to identify and resolve quality issues before final production
    • Document specialized knowledge, standards, and workflows to create durable, repeatable processes for the department
    • Gradually assume greater ownership of print production and quality control responsibilities as proficiency develops

  • Ability and willingness to learn Galaxy, its business ecosystem, and manual software-testing fundamentals through hands-on guidance
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with analysts, developers, business stakeholders, and production partners
  • Must currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and be able to work with the team onsite 2-3 days per week in Corte Madera, California
  • Genuine interest in developing long-term expertise in premedia, prepress, color management, and print production
  • Willingness to work occasional evening hours during limited production windows and to travel when required for press checks
  • Interest in a contract-to-hire opportunity and a long-term career path with the organization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Any basic exposure to software QA, user acceptance testing, application testing, data validation, or structured quality-control work
  • Experience documenting issues, following test steps, or comparing expected and actual results
  • Comfort working in an Apple/macOS environment or learning new business applications
  • Experience in a role requiring visual precision, careful proofreading, data accuracy, production quality or detailed inspection
  • Exposure to retail, product information, catalogs, signage, publishing, design, or print production is helpful but not required

The pay range for this role is $35/hr to $45/hr.
