Job summary

Allstate Insurance seeks a Software Developer to join the Investment Technology team, building trading platforms and data integrations. The role covers backend services in Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, and data pipelines with SQL across Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL, plus front-end work with React, HTML, CSS.

This hybrid role requires 2 days in Chicago Riverpoint and 3 days remote, with emphasis on writing tests (TDD), CI/CD (Jenkins/Gradle), and cloud deployments (AWS/Azure).

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, SAS, Bash, PowerShell, or Perl.
• Advanced SQL skills with complex queries and performance tuning across Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Proficient in backend programming with Java and JavaScript.
• Experience with Java Spring Boot for enterprise-grade apps.
• Working knowledge of React.js and modern JavaScript libraries.
• Solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns.
• Experience developing and integrating SOAP/REST APIs with JSON data.
• Hands-on experience with TDD and Git version control.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Gradle.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC best practices.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in CS/SE or related field

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation scripts for data processing and workflow optimization.
• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries across enterprise databases.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services using Java Spring Boot and Node.js.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces using React.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and JSON integrations.
• Write clean, maintainable code following OO principles and coding standards.
• Implement testing strategies including unit, integration, and acceptance tests (TDD).
• Refactor code to improve performance and maintainability.
• Manage source code with Git and participate in code reviews.
• Support CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Gradle, and containerization with Kubernetes.
• Implement web and API security best practices.
• Collaborate with business analysts, front office, and ops to translate requirements.
