Planet is seeking a Social Media Specialist to join our Communications team. The role focuses on evolving Planet’s brand voice across social channels and turning complex topics into engaging stories for customers, investors, space enthusiasts, and the public.

You will own day-to-day social execution, manage content calendars, collaborate with internal teams, and identify new opportunities to stand out in the digital space. Hybrid role in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing daily social operations and digital campaigns
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
• Proactive mindset with initiative and execution plans
• Curiosity for technical topics and ability to turn them into stories
• Exceptional copywriting for B2B and platform-native tone
• Comfort with visual storytelling and creating social assets

Responsibilities

• Evolve multi-channel social media strategy across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Reddit.
• Develop social-first content that brings Planet’s technology and mission to life.
• Own day-to-day channel operations: planning, drafting, asset gathering, scheduling and reporting.
• Align social strategy with broader communications goals with Executive Communications Manager.
• Collaborate with Creative teams to produce social visuals and multimedia assets.
• Translate leadership perspectives into authentic platform-native content.
• Turn business priorities into cohesive social storytelling and campaigns.
• Engage with Planet’s online community and monitor real-time conversations.
