Planet Labs PBC seeks a Social Media Specialist to evolve and amplify its brand voice across social channels. You will turn complex topics into engaging stories for customers, investors, space enthusiasts and the public.

You’ll own day-to-day social execution and collaborate with a high-performing communications team to identify new opportunities, improve campaigns, and drive meaningful engagement. This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring you to work from the San Francisco office 3 days per

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing daily social operations for a tech company.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related field.
• Proactive, self-starter mindset; initiates drafts and plans.
• Curious with strong social listening instincts; can translate technical topics into stories.
• Exceptional copywriting; can switch tones across platforms.
• Comfort with visual storytelling and creating assets in design tools.
• Strong knowledge of current social trends and platform shifts.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with enterprise social platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social.

Responsibilities

• Evolve Planet's multi-channel social strategy across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Reddit.
• Develop social-first content and storytelling highlighting Planet's technology and mission.
• Own day-to-day channel operations: planning, drafting, asset gathering, scheduling, publishing, engagement and reporting.
• Collaborate with Executive Communications Manager to align social strategy with broader goals.
• Work with Creative teams to produce social visuals and multimedia assets.
• Translate leadership perspectives into authentic, platform-native content.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Government Affairs, Product and more to align priorities.
• Build relationships with online community through engagement and social listening.
• Monitor news and cultural moments to identify participation opportunities.
• Track KPIs and deliver insights to leadership.
