Job summary

Business Centric Technology in Addison, TX seeks a Data Engineer to build and maintain ELT pipelines on Azure Data Factory and Snowflake for a cloud-native analytics platform. You will implement Bronze/Silver/Gold transformations, optimize T-SQL, and ensure 24/7 uptime while handling PHI/PII data per HIPAA compliance.

The role offers a six-month contract-to-hire or direct hire path, onsite with potential for two remote days per week after a few months, and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8+ years of data engineering experience, including 2+ years with Azure and hands-on production experience with Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, and Snowflake.
• Strong SQL Server/T-SQL skills, including complex queries, CTEs, window functions, and SCD Type 2, plus experience with Snowflake tasks, streams, incremental loading, query optimization, and RBAC.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, idempotency, error handling, and working with regulated data (HIPAA, PCI, or similar).
• Preferred: Healthcare data experience, Python for data transformation and pipeline testing, dbt for Silver/Gold layer management, and Azure DevOps/CI/CD for pipeline deployment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory ingesting data from disparate sources into Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
• Implement Snowflake Bronze → Silver → Gold layer transformations: incremental loads, SCD Type 2, and fact/dimension modeling.
• Write and optimize T-SQL against SQL Server for performant source extraction without disrupting operational workloads.
• Maintain pipeline monitoring, alerting, and error recovery; pipelines support 24/7 revenue operations and uptime matters.
• Handle PHI/PII data in full compliance with HIPAA: field masking, access controls, and audit-ready data handling at every layer.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineer to ensure Silver-layer data structures are ML-ready and documented.
