Job summary

Ascend seeks a Tax Manager with public accounting experience to lead engagements from planning to review, serving as the client contact and advisor for assigned clients in our Birmingham office with hybrid flexibility.

You will apply judgment to complex returns, leverage AI-enabled tools for efficiency, and coach team members across in-person and remote settings while pursuing growth and community involvement.

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. in Accounting or related field required.
• CPA license required; EA/JD/LL.M. also considered.
• Five or more years of public accounting tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state tax compliance and advisory work.

Responsibilities

• Manage engagements from planning through Principal review.
• Review complex returns and tax authority notices; provide research support.
• Serve as primary client contact and business advisor for assigned clients.
• Identify year-round tax planning opportunities and support business development.
