Job summary

Westcor Land Title Insurance Company in Columbus, OH is seeking an Underwriting Counsel OH to analyze title risks and provide underwriting solutions within a hybrid, full-time role. A J.D. is required with at least 5 years of Ohio-focused experience in real property and title insurance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience concentrated in Ohio real property and title insurance.
• Multi-state experience, particularly in Michigan, Indiana, and/or Kentucky, is preferred.
• Member in good standing with the Ohio Bar and strong knowledge of Ohio real property law.

Responsibilities

• Analyze title insurance risks, underwriting issues, and regulatory concerns.
• Provide underwriting solutions to agents, sales team, and title examiners in accordance with Westcor company guidelines and applicable law.
• Handle residential and limited commercial transactions underwriting.
• Present training seminars to educate title agents and production staff (online and in person).
• Provide outstanding customer service while making sound underwriting decisions.
• Handle a high volume of underwriting inquiries via email and telephone in a timely, professional manner.
• Analyze and respond to indemnity requests.
• Travel with sales staff for agent visits throughout the state.
• Work well in a remote team environment.
