Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for a hybrid role based in our Providence, RI office. You will provide technical supervision of transportation projects, ensure work meets scope, budget and schedule, and coordinate among design disciplines.

You will lead 3D roadway design using AutoCAD Civil3D, oversee plan sets and cost estimates, mentor junior staff, and manage client relationships while delivering high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license or in pursuit within one year.
• 5+ years of roadway design experience.
• Strong writing skills for memoranda, reports, proposals, contracts, and scopes of work.
• Knowledge of RIDOT plan set requirements and RIDOT design process is a plus.
• Complete Streets experience is a strong plus.
• Valid US driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Technical Lead for transportation components of complex projects.
• Coordinate technically among design disciplines and subconsultants.
• Lead development of 3D roadway design models using AutoCAD Civil3D per RIDOT standards.
• Oversee or prepare plan sets, special provisions, and cost estimates for roadway design.
• Assist Project Managers with planning, coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and proposal development.
• Develop technical solutions for complex roadway projects and maintain client relationships.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and manage workload and career development.
• Prepare for and present project deliverables to clients and boards.
