Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting modernization of flight service and air traffic systems. You will act as Product Owner in an Agile/SAFe environment, shaping software solutions with program architects, stakeholders, and DevSecOps teams.

This role focuses on cloud-native capabilities, regulatory compliance, and delivering safety-critical flight services; US citizenship is required for Public Trust eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience or Master’s with 6+ years.
• Experience with Agile methodology, principles, and tools.
• Experience as Agile Product Owner, backlog ownership and item definition.
• Strong disciplined engineering processes and attention to detail.
• Experience writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software.
• Clear verbal and written communication.
• Experience with cloud‑based systems.
• Experience engaging customers to understand needs and manage expectations.
• SF‑85 Public Trust suitability determination US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Review FAA requirement documents and regulations to extract intent and acceptance criteria.
• Backlog management for Agile teams with prioritized features.
• Engage with stakeholders to identify use cases and readiness for validation trials.
• Decompose regulatory requirements into testable capability statements with FAA mapping.
• Capture and communicate design decisions, trade‑offs, and risk assessments with each release.
• Prepare and review technical documentation including use cases and requirements traceability.
• Lead and participate in structured reviews and inspections.
