Job summary

Duke Energy seeks a Sr. Public Engagement Manager to lead strategic outreach for large transmission projects, developing engagement plans with project teams, communities, and local officials to gain acceptance and keep projects on track.

You will coordinate with corporate communications, legal, engineering, siting, and others, guide public hearings, and nurture trusted relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes in a hybrid work environment with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of related work experience; or 7+ years with high school diploma.
• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations or Mass Communications preferred.
• Extensive stakeholder engagement, community relations or corporate communications experience.
• Strong organization, planning and independent decision-making skills; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead the company's strategic outreach for large transmission projects.
• Develop and manage engagement plans and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Advocate for public interests and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Create external communications strategies with internal teams (management, legal, siting, engineering).
• Develop proactive strategies to manage potential opposition to projects.
• Interact with stakeholders to identify solutions supporting project goals.
• Lead strategy and preparation for public hearings.
