Job summary

General Motors in Milford, Michigan, is seeking a Senior Software System Architect to lead the VMEC software organization. You will shape high-quality, well-architected software for current and future vehicles and mentor cross-functional teams in design, architecture, and quality.

You’ll drive architectural strategies, manage ENABLER Epics and roadmaps, ensure compliance with MISRA/CERT C and GM guidelines, and collaborate within an Agile Release Train to deliver robust software foundations.

Qualifications

• BS in an engineering field required.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ and embedded software.
• Strong software architecture and design skills.
• Able to mentor and lead others.
• Excellent communication skills for leadership and teams.

Responsibilities

• Define high-level architecture for ART software and NFRs.
• Lead creation of new components and re-architect for scalability.
• Develop architectural runway and align with Epics and roadmaps.
• Drive SSQA improvements and resource optimizations.
• Support PI planning and architecture sync meetings.
• Collaborate with other architects and ensure standards.
• Establish and participate in NFR definition across variants.
• Analyze design decisions within an economic framework.
• Break initiatives into features for 2-week sprints.
• Add architectural items to Definition of Done.
• Promote GM guidelines and industry standards.
• Mentor the team and share knowledge through sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
