Job summary

The Planning Office for Urban Affairs (POUA) seeks a Senior Real Estate Project Manager, or Project Manager, to join a collaborative staff and work on projects across Eastern and Central Massachusetts. The role emphasizes affordable housing development, strong teamwork, and public engagement.

Ideal candidates bring at least five years in real estate finance or development, strong modeling skills, and familiarity with MA housing programs.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in real estate finance, development, or community development.
• Strong oral and written communication, technology, and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems and move tasks forward with initiative.
• Strong financial modeling and management skills.
• Experience with state and federal housing programs and funding, preferably in MA.
• Familiarity with closings, permitting, and zoning processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist with prospective developments and acquisitions to advance the Office’s mission.
• Assemble project development teams and manage vendor contracts.
• Undertake financial modeling for development and operating budgets.
• Manage zoning and permitting processes.
• Identify and secure pre-development and permanent financing.
• Manage pre-development budgets and timelines.
• Assemble tax credit and other funding applications.
• Develop presentations and communicate with public commissions and communities.
• Oversee project closings and construction/lease-up phases.
• Build relationships with City/Town staff, lenders, and financing agencies.
• Perform other project development or office development tasks as assigned.
