Job summary

Draper and Kramer is seeking a Portfolio Senior Accountant to prepare and review fund- and property-level financial statements, supporting work papers, and reconciliations in a hybrid Chicagoland role.

The candidate should have 3+ years in private equity real estate or related fields, strong Yardi and Excel skills, and CPA or advanced degrees are a plus. Hybrid schedule; remote consideration for non-Chicagoland candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• At least three years of relevant experience in private equity real estate, open-end funds, property management accounting, and/or public accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with strong Copilot skills.
• Detail-oriented self-starter with leadership skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong GAAP and tax accounting knowledge, including ASC 946, ASC 820, and NCREIF PREA.
• Knowledge of federal and state tax codes.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review fund-level financial statements in GAAP and NCREIF PREA.
• Prepare and review property-level financial statements, supporting workpapers, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Prepare and review capital account statements, performance metrics, distributions, and investor deliverables.
• Coordinate with the fund administrator, investors, outsourced accounting team, auditors, and internal teams.
• Train colleagues on Yardi functionality, including resident charges and receipts, reporting, GL mapping, Smart AP, and forecasting.
• Leverage Microsoft Copilot and evaluate outsourcing opportunities to streamline workflows.
• Develop and implement accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Support special projects and ad hoc requests.
