Job summary

MITRE is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to join its Operations Analysis department in Bedford, MA. You will apply advanced analytics, optimization, and data modeling to support national security, health, and civilian programs.

The role requires 5+ years of OR or related experience, strong programming (Python, R, or C++), and active U.S. security clearance. You will work in a hybrid environment with three on-site days per week.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or equivalent Knowledge and skills in a related field; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++)
• Demonstrated ability to use Python with limited coding assistance
• Show evidence of knowledge of principles, concepts, methods and tools for conducting operations research, statistical analysis, and data analytic studies, including data visualization
• Be willing to adapt and learn

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytical and mathematical techniques to make difficult policy and acquisition decisions, to maximize operational effectiveness and efficiency, and achieve highest quality engineering solutions
• Frame problems, collect and manipulate data, develop & code customized algorithms, identify risks, and incorporate domain-specific context, as necessary & applicable, to supplement and enhance insight gained solely from mathematical analyses
• Present results in an intuitive, actionable manner that can be understood by all sponsor audiences, regardless of technical expertise, including data visualization & graphs to support actionable recommendations
• Work independently and/or collaborate with a team of technical staff
• Work successfully in a hybrid environment with majority in-person presence
