Job summary

TheIncLab is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in McLean, VA to research, design, train, and evaluate ML models addressing complex real-world problems. You will own data pipelines, feature engineering, and model validation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deploy solutions into production.

The role requires 7+ years of ML experience, strong Python skills, and deep familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and end-to-end ML workflow from data validation to deployment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional ML development experience
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines
• Ability to explain model behavior and tradeoffs to stakeholders
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Familiar with production ML environments and research-driven work

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and select machine learning approaches and architectures based on the problem definition
• Train, tune, and debug models addressing issues like overfitting and bias
• Own data pipelines for ML systems and ensure data quality
• Design and implement ML models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent
• Define evaluation metrics and iteratively improve model performance
• Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in ML development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy ML solutions into production
