Job summary

mcfa is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineer to design and analyze complex mechanical systems for data centers and labs in the Mid-Atlantic region. You will collaborate with clients, engineers, and contractors to develop designs that meet goals, codes, and project requirements.

The role offers mentorship under senior Mechanical PEs, hands-on experience with controls and balancing, and a hybrid work arrangement in Aberdeen, MD. mcfa values growth, ownership, and collaborative problem solving.

Qualifications

• 5+ years HVAC engineering/design experience
• Active PE license in any state with MD/NJ licensure requirements in process
• Security clearance not required but TS-SCI clearance eventual
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills
• Knowledge of data center facility infrastructure
• Working knowledge of facility plumbing and data center electrical systems
• Ability to coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, contractors and consultants
• Strong record keeping and coordination skills
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards

Responsibilities

• Develop and document design goals, criteria and concepts with consultants and clients.
• Analyze existing HVAC systems and troubleshoot equipment.
• Perform condition surveys for renovations.
• Conduct HVAC load calculations and pressure drop analyses.
• Produce construction documents meeting goals and codes.
• Perform Construction Administration tasks including site visits and RFI responses.
• Create drawings in line with client requirements and standards.
• Learn under senior Mechanical PEs and gain hands-on controls experience.
• Interface with clients and attend meetings regularly.
