Job summary

Orbital Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a hybrid role in Hammond, IN. The candidate will lead electrical design from concept through commissioning, coordinate with mechanical and civil teams, and act as a client-facing technical advisor.

The position requires a PE license, 20+ years of experience in consulting, and deep knowledge of power distribution, substations, relaying, MCCs, and VFDs. A rigorous safety mindset and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design efforts from concept through commissioning.
• Develop electrical deliverables: cable schedules, routing plans, grounding, and protective relaying.
• Perform load flow, arc flash, and motor starting analyses.
• Develop data sheets, RFQs, and bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Support client meetings and commissioning activities.
