Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. in Seattle invites an experienced Senior Designer to lead the design team within Nordstrom Made, guiding apparel concepts from concept through production.

The role reports to the Design Director and requires strong executive function, collaboration with Merchandising and Production, and a track record of delivering seasonally compelling, commercially successful designs across multiple categories such as outerwear and tailored wovens. Hybrid work in Seattle.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive apparel design experience, preferably in an established American lifestyle or heritage-driven brand
• Experience managing, mentoring, and developing direct reports on a design team
• Hands-on knowledge of fabric, silhouette, and detail/fit/finish development, with a highly developed taste level
• An elevated design eye with strong organizational discipline and deadline management
• Deep expertise in garment construction, sketching, and fabric, with cross-functional awareness
• Strong presentation and communication skills to leadership and partners
• Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of multiple apparel categories each season from concept through final production samples
• Conduct global research on silhouette, color, and fabric innovation to guide brand direction
• Develop and source premium fabrics, trims, and construction techniques with Production and Sourcing
• Lead fittings to ensure impeccable construction, drape, and tailoring standards
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design to protect product integrity
• Manage, mentor, and coach design team members
• Create boards, CAD artwork, and illustrations to communicate seasonal vision to leadership
