Job summary

New York Life Direct is seeking a Senior Associate, Data Scientist to lead data-driven analytics across marketing, underwriting, actuarial, operations, and fraud prevention. You will own the full lifecycle of data science projects, applying ML and statistics to solve real-world business problems and communicating results to stakeholders.

You'll work with Python/R and SQL in a hybrid team, collaborating with engineers to deploy models, improve processes, and drive efficiency.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics).
• 1–3+ years of experience applying data science or analytics in a business setting.
• Proficient in Python and/or R, and familiarity with SQL.
• Strong foundation in statistics, ML, and analytical problem solving.
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute end-to-end analytical projects.

Responsibilities

• Own data science projects and analytical workstreams across the full lifecycle from problem framing to deployment.
• Apply statistical and machine learning methods to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business questions into analytical approaches.
• Lead development, testing, and deployment of models in partnership with engineering, with strong model lifecycle practices.
