Job summary

Sysco, a global leader in foodservice distribution, seeks an Assistant General Counsel in Houston, TX to provide legal counsel across employment, contracts, EHS, and litigation matters for Sysco Corporation and its sites globally.

You will work with senior executives and cross-functional teams, manage outside counsel, and develop risk mitigation strategies. This hybrid role requires on-site presence 3–4 days per week at our Energy Corridor office.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• 5+ years legal experience at a law firm or company.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with senior executives.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily advice and counsel regarding legal compliance and risk avoidance.
• Direct, manage, and develop strategy for respective legal matters.
• Manage outside counsel fees and costs to maintain efficiency.
• Direct, manage, and develop strategy for responses to complaints filed with government agencies and other pre-litigation matters.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to provide legal guidance and to support the development and execution of enterprise-wide initiatives, policies and strategies.
• Prepare materials and conduct training for internal business clients regarding strategic initiatives and other relevant legal matters.
