Job summary

GTN Technical Staffing is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a hybrid role in Dallas, TX, leading controls engineering delivery for a large-scale generation system. You will own the controls scope, coordinate with vendors and site teams, and ensure safety, reliability, and cyber security across EPMS/DCS/PLC platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of combined controls engineering and technical project management experience.
• Direct experience delivering controls for large fleets of engines/turbines.
• Hands-on knowledge of generator paralleling, synchronization, load sharing, load shedding, and black-start.
• Experience managing OEMs and system integrators against schedules and budgets.
• Experience with protection and controls platforms (GE Mark VIe, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB 800xA).
• Knowledge of industrial protocols and time synchronization for power systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop specifications for EPMS, DCS, PLC, and PMS.
• Coordinate design with Engineer of Record and translate requirements to vendor deliverables.
• Own controls architecture across substation, transformers, switchgear, gensets, and BESS.
• Manage generator master controls for paralleling, synchronization, and load actions.
• Coordinate microgrid controller requirements and testing per IEEE 2030.7/2030.8.
• Partner with cybersecurity on network segmentation and secure connectivity.
• Manage vendors and system integrators to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
• Review submittals, drawings, and control narratives for design intent.
• Maintain controls delivery schedule, risk log, and issue tracking.
• Coordinate with electrical contractors and internal teams.
