Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Civil Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation and Infrastructure team. The position is hybrid and based out of WSP’s NJ Offices (Morristown or Lawrenceville).

You will provide roadway, transportation, and infrastructure design and project management for NJDOT, NJTPA, and county/municipal clients across New Jersey. You will lead design activities, mentor staff, manage budgets, produce plans and reports, and coordinate with clients and agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years post‑graduate experience in roadway or civil infrastructure design.
• EIT Certification in New Jersey.
• Experience with design teams on NJDOT and municipal projects (highway, roadway geometric design, drainage design).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Proficiency with engineering software including MicroStation and OpenRoads.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist with preparation of plan drawings, specifications, design documentation reports, and bid quantities on highway projects.
• Collaborate with junior, mid-level, and senior professionals across disciplines to deliver projects.
• Develop practical and innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
• Manage task budgets and schedules to support project delivery.
• Mentor and provide guidance to early-career engineers.
• Conduct site visits to verify field conditions as needed.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, exhibits, and visualizations for analyses and recommendations.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Perform engineering assignments requiring critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and quality procedures.
