Job summary

Vanguard is seeking an Application Security Specialist to strengthen the security of the software development lifecycle. You will guide security strategy, support API and container security testing, and collaborate with developers to embed secure practices across pipelines and deployments.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering for incidents, vulnerability management, and continuous security improvement, with a focus on modern tech like containers, serverless, and AI/ML integration.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Strong experience deploying and operating DAST tools, including onboarding, authentication setup, and CI/CD integration.
• Experience with SAST, SCA, IAST, RASP, and other security tooling.
• Solid knowledge of development/build/deploy processes (IDE, repos, pipelines, cloud, containers, serverless).
• Familiarity with NIST, OWASP, and MITRE standards.
• Certifications in security, DevSecOps, cloud, or related areas are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Guide Application Security strategy and secure the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Drive API, Container, and Application Security testing, including DAST, to improve coverage and remediation.
• Develop strategies to secure containers, serverless, API, AI/ML.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for security incidents, vulnerability management, and control improvements.
• Gather and report metrics on security solutions to show risk reduction and program maturity.
• Create and maintain technical standards, procedures, and guidance citing NIST, OWASP, and SANS.
• Provide mentorship and training to development and cloud teams on secure development practices for API, Container security, and remediation.
• Implement, optimize, and operationalize Application Security solutions to improve risk visibility and developer adoption.
• Drive automation to improve developer experience and align with enterprise security goals.
• Stay informed on emerging Application Security trends to enhance Vanguard's security posture.
