Job summary

Vanguard is seeking an Application Security Specialist to enhance security across the software development lifecycle. You will guide security strategy, enable secure delivery, and collaborate with developers to implement guardrails across APIs, containers, and serverless architectures.

Roles include hands-on security testing (DAST/SAST/IAST), vulnerability management, and mentoring teams on secure development practices.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience deploying and operating DAST tools including onboarding, authentication setup, and CI/CD integration.
• Experience with SAST, SCA, IAST, RASP, and other application security tools.
• Solid knowledge of development, build, and deployment processes (IDE, repos, pipelines, cloud, containers, serverless).
• Familiarity with NIST, OWASP, and MITRE standards.
• Relevant certifications in application development, security, DevSecOps, or cloud are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Guide Application Security strategy and secure the SDLC across the organization.
• Drive API, Container, and Application Security testing initiatives (DAST and other validation capabilities).
• Develop strategies to secure containers, serverless, API, and AI/ML technologies.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for security incidents and vulnerability management.
• Gather and report metrics on security coverage, risk reduction, and program maturity.
• Create and maintain technical standards and procedures leveraging NIST/OWASP/SANS guidance.
• Mentor and train development and cloud teams on secure development practices.
• Implement, optimize, and operationalize Application Security solutions to improve risk visibility and developer adoption.
• Drive automation to improve developer experience and align security with enterprise goals.
• Stay informed on emerging trends and best practices to enhance Vanguard's security posture.
