Xcel Energy is seeking a Sr Accounting Analyst in Denver, CO for a role that supports month-end close, financial reporting, and inter-company billings. The position emphasizes GAAP proficiency, cross-functional collaboration, and system improvements within a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities include detailed financial analysis, data reconciliation, and regulatory reporting, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related business degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in general financial accounting and reporting experience, with an emphasis on complex accounting issues, processes, and multiple company accounting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and strong analytical/communication skills.
• Knowledge of and experience working with SAP highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and support accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close cycles and development of subsequent internal and external financial statements, required regulatory reporting forms and tax filings.
• Collect and analyze complex financial data to reconcile accounts, prepare ledger entries, reports, and inter-company billings; identify trends and mitigate financial impact.
• Lead special projects such as system upgrade testing, rate case support, ad hoc reporting and process improvements.
• Provide timely guidance to clients within the supported business area and prepare presentations and schedules for management and outside parties.
• Stay current with local, state and federal rules and GAAP practices to resolve complex issues.
• May provide work direction and training to other analysts.
