Job summary

Xcel Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to support accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end close cycles, and to prepare internal and external financial statements and reports.

The role involves analyzing complex financial data, preparing journal entries, and coordinating regulatory and tax filings. Responsibilities include inter-company billings, property valuations, and staying current with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related business degree or equivalent.
• Progressive accounting experience including close processes and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close cycles and related financial statements and tax filings.
• Analyze complex financial data, reconcile accounts, prepare ledger entries and reports, and manage inter-company billings.
• Lead special projects such as system upgrades, rate case support, ad hoc analyses and process improvements.
• Provide timely assistance to clients, interpret account codes and prepare status reports for management.
• Stay current with GAAP, accounting regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Mentor and train other analysts as needed.
