Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown PC is seeking a Senior Accountant for our Lincolnshire, IL office. This hybrid role requires three in-office days and involves collaboration across tax, assurance, accounting and advisory teams to service clients.

Responsibilities include analyzing financial statements, identifying cost-saving opportunities, guiding staff, and reviewing statements. Three+ years of CPA-firm experience and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field.
• CPA license preferred or working towards CPA certification.
• Minimum three years of experience in a local or mid-size CPA firm or tax consulting practice; food & beverage industry experience is a plus.
• Experience working with a high volume of financial statements under tight deadlines.
• Strong technical accounting background with a willingness to stay current on key law changes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project-management, and technical skills.
• Exceptional client-service and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Strong training and mentoring skills, and excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, assess risks, and provide recommendations on cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profit maximization.
• Identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and suggest improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Provide guidance, training and support to engagement staff and promote open communication with engagement partner and manager.
• Review and conduct financial statement reviews and compilations.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with tax, assurance, accounting, and advisory groups to fully service clients.
• Keep current on technical and industry developments and standards, evaluating potential impact on clients' business and financial positions.
