Job summary

Our client, a global manufacturer in Stamford, CT, is seeking a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant to manage key GL activities, support month-end close, and assist with financial reporting. The role involves 3-4 days on-site with a hybrid schedule and close collaboration with the Controller to improve processes.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing or public accounting experience, solid GL analysis skills, and advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Accounting experience in manufacturing or public accounting is required.
• Experience with general ledger analysis is required.
• Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
• Ability to work on-site 3-4 days per week is required.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close across 3 business units.
• Document close procedures and timelines for each unit.
• Prepare and process journal entries to ensure proper classification.
• Review and analyze general ledger postings to ensure accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies via reconciliations.
• Support with financial statement preparation and reporting.
• Maintain and review intercompany matrix monthly for accuracy.
• Assist management with tax compliance and accounting administration.
• Support the preparation of external audits and address auditor inquiries.
• Analyze, book, and validate accruals; identify adjustment needs.
• Confirm proper and timely revenue recognition.
• Manage bad debt allowances and adjustments.
• Respond to requests for financial information and data.
• Recommend internal controls to enhance accounting accuracy.
