Job summary

Ledgent, Inc. in Columbia, MD is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a direct-hire role with exposure to project accounting, government contracting, financial reporting, audit support, payroll, and operational finance.

You will work closely with an experienced Controller to ensure accurate month-end closes and strong internal controls. This position offers a hybrid schedule (2 days onsite), competitive salary up to $110,000, and benefits including tuition reimbursement, professional development,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong month-end close and general ledger experience.
• Government contracting experience (Federal, State, or Local).
• Experience with Unanet or Deltek.
• Understanding of GAAP and project-based accounting.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting, cash flow analysis, and audit preparation.
• Assist with project accounting and contract setup for government-funded projects.
• Review payroll processes and support AP oversight.
• Manage and maintain accounting data within Unanet/Deltek systems.
• Prepare and analyze indirect cost and overhead reporting.
• Partner with leadership to improve processes and reporting accuracy.
• Support compliance with GAAP and government contracting requirements.
