Job summary

Hostelling-International in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Operations. You will own accounts payable, cash and balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, regulatory filings, and audit support, ensuring GAAP-compliant, well-documented transactions.

The role requires analytical rigor, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating with Finance, vendors, and auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, nonprofit preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and month-end close.
• Sage Intacct and ERP systems experience; familiarity with Concur preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable processing, including invoice coding and payments.
• Perform month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Assist with annual Form 1099 reporting and tax filings.
• Reconcile bank accounts and monitor AP aging.
• Support internal controls and audits with proper documentation.
• Collaborate with vendors, auditors, and internal teams.
