Job summary

CoinDesk Inc. in NYC is seeking a Senior Accountant to partner with the Accounting Manager and lead the monthly and yearly close. You will work across FP&A and SEC Reporting on cryptocurrency accounting standards and regulatory matters.

The role requires at least 3+ years in financial services/fintech with IFRS knowledge and experience with blockchain-based tools. Office near Union Square, four days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent is preferred.
• 3+ years of public and private accounting in Financial Services, FinTech, or Digital Assets.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting principles; experience with digital asset accounting preferred.
• Experience with accounting software and blockchain-based financial tools.
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving regulations.

Responsibilities

• Own and review month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Reconcile cryptocurrency wallets, exchanges, and blockchain transactions for accurate reporting.
• Develop and implement accounting policies tailored to the cryptocurrency industry.
• Collaborate with SEC Reporting to prepare financial statements and audits.
• Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Monitor financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
• Stay updated on evolving cryptocurrency regulations, tax laws, and standards.
• Assist in implementing and optimizing accounting software and blockchain tools.
• Coordinate with FP&A for budgets, forecasts, and planning.
• Lead initiatives to automate balance sheet reconciliations and improve close efficiency.
