Job summary

West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics seeks a (Hybrid) Senior Academic Advisor for the Graduate Programs Office. You will coordinate programming, advise graduate students, and support retention initiatives across multiple departments.

The role requires a Master’s degree and several years of advising and program-management experience. You’ll work with Banner, DegreeWorks, Navigate, and other SIS tools to track progress and assist students toward graduation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; a combination with experience may be considered.
• 3+ years advising or counseling, and student support services
• 2+ years program planning/management experience

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and coordinate programming such as recruitment, orientation, academies and retention initiatives.
• Assist senior leadership by collecting and analyzing enrollment data to improve retention and completion.
• Collaborate with recruitment to increase yield from admits to deposits.
• Coordinate with career services and college staff on graduate student success.
• Provide timely academic counsel on selecting and completing graduate degree programs.
• Develop advisee plans, track in DegreeWorks, and monitor persistence and completion.
• Assist with course scheduling and degree certification processes.
• Use Banner/DegreeWorks/Navigate to monitor academic history and progress.
