Job summary

Ionis Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Research Associate I / II for Manufacturing Process Research at our Carlsbad, CA site. You will support development and execution of oligonucleotide manufacturing processes under supervision, preparing materials and reviewing data.

The role offers exposure to solid-phase synthesis, purification, and cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Analytical Development, and Quality teams. Strong documentation and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
• 2+ years of relevant experience for Research Associate II; entry-level for RA I.
• Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication and collaboration in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Execute defined laboratory experiments supporting oligonucleotide process development.
• Perform solid-phase synthesis and related operations on oligonucleotide materials.
• Prepare and purify oligonucleotide materials using chromatography and filtration.
• Support process-development programs across modalities.
• Review data and document results in ELN and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing and QC.
• Maintain safe laboratory practices and organized workspace.
