Job summary

BETA Group, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Engineering Designer to join our Worcester, MA team. You will work on transportation infrastructure projects, bridging drafting, traffic analysis, design development, and project documentation.

Ideal candidates have a civil engineering degree, 0–3 years of highway design experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D. The role supports field data collection and compliance with DOT guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, MassDOT design requirements.
• Experience with MADEP and Wetlands Protection Act regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Must be able to collect field data and measurements including roadway/sidewalk assets and perform asset inspections.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of roadway and highway improvement projects, including alignment, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and drainage.
• Utilize AutoCAD software in the preparation of construction plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state and local requirements.
• Perform geometric design, quantity takeoffs, and assist with pavement markings and traffic control.
• Support preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and design calculations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
