Job summary

This role blends drafting, traffic analysis, design development, and project documentation to deliver high-quality roadway improvements. You will work on highways, intersections, signage, and pedestrian facilities, with opportunities for growth into senior technical positions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field.
• 0–3 years of highway design, stormwater, ADA, and roadway construction knowledge.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, MassDOT design requirements.
• Experience with MADEP and Wetlands Protection Act regulations.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of roadway and highway improvement projects, including alignment, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and drainage.
• Utilize AutoCAD software in the preparation of construction plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state (e.g., MassDOT), and local requirements.
• Perform geometric design, quantity takeoffs, and assist with pavement markings, traffic control, and ADA compliance elements.
• Support preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and design calculations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including transportation planners, traffic engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS team members.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards such as AASHTO, MUTCD, and local DOT guidelines.
• Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection as needed.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with quality control reviews.
