Job summary

American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) seeks a Transmission Engineer-Station to join the AMPT team. This position reports to the Senior Director Transmission Engineering and can work from Columbus, OH (Hybrid) or remotely within AMP's membership footprint.

The role supports implementing AMPT engineering standards, provides technical direction on assets and projects, and develops scopes for construction RFPs. It also involves studies, design support, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

A four-year accredited engineering degree is required (civil or electrical preferred).
1–3 years of experience in electric transmission or distribution engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer license preferred.
Knowledge of transmission protection and control engineering preferred.
Knowledge of FERC Part 35 accounts preferred.
Knowledge of RTO transmission planning processes and system operations preferred.
Knowledge of NERC processes and compliance preferred.
Experience with transmission planning software preferred.
Excellent Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access skills.

Responsibilities

Implement and maintain AMPT engineering standards.
Provide technical direction on AMPT assets and projects.
Develop scope and SOW for construction RFPs.
Support design, calculations, studies for substations at distribution/transmission levels.
Coordinate with operations, planning, and project management.
