Job summary

MCN Build in Washington, DC seeks a Preconstruction Manager with a strong background in estimating for mechanical construction. You will lead the preconstruction process with the Project Executive, manage costs and risk, and maintain client relations to ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery.

You will produce design-milestone estimates, evaluate costs, and coordinate with subcontractors and vendors while guiding bid packages and take-offs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field.
• 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices.
• Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the client and architect requirements.
• Demonstrate imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project.
• Excellent oral and written skills required.
• Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite program.
• Strong attention to detail and well organized, must be diplomatic with the ability to be discreet when handling confidential information/situations, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
• Some travel may be required depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead management, coordination, and delivery of preconstruction phases.
• Produce progress estimates at design milestones and review progress.
• Evaluate material and system costs and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors.
• Define bid package scopes and oversee subcontractor/supplier bidding processes.
• Oversee detailed take-offs and estimating activities.
