Job summary

MSU Federal Credit Union is seeking a Member Solutions Specialist in East Lansing. The role focuses on assisting members facing financial difficulties, working with delinquent accounts, and educating members on financial decisions.

The position offers an onsite or hybrid arrangement (2 remote days/week) after training, with an hourly range of $18.00-$20.00 and comprehensive benefits. Training is 4–6 weeks, and the work schedule is provided in the job description.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in financial institution, collections, or similar.
• Possess or be in pursuit of obtaining the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor certification.
• Prior experience in asset recovery at a financial institution, financial services agency or similar.
• Core Competencies: Communicate, Navigate Change & Evolve, Solve Problems & Make Decisions, Plan, Prioritize, and Achieve, and Collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Manage share and loan collection queues adhering to department processes and applicable laws.
• Assist members to resolve negative balances and delinquent loan payments.
• Recommend charge-offs for negative shares and delinquent loans and repossession of delinquent secured loans.
• Document all collection efforts and member contacts timely.
• Offer financial counseling and refer to external resources when necessary.
• Perform daily balancing of financial transactions.
• Adhere to Credit Union policies and procedures to manage operational risks.
