Job summary

Symetra is seeking a Lead Analytics Engineer to design and build the data platform our AI products rely on, including storage and pipelines for unstructured data. You will shape the stack, set patterns, and mentor peers.

You will collaborate with engineers building AI products, selecting tools and architectures that fit product needs, while driving scalable data infrastructure across teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data or analytics engineering experience designing data platforms.
• Strong SQL and Python with pipelines, data modeling, and integrating structured and unstructured data.
• Experience evaluating, choosing, and standing up data infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with internal customers.
• Ability to use AI coding agents judiciously.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the data platform and pipelines for AI products.
• Determine how to store and serve data using OLTP, object storage, or Snowflake.
• Solve data integration problems across diverse sources.
• Partner with software engineers to fit data platform needs.
• Mentor engineers and act as technical lead for the data platform.
