Job summary

Green Evans-Schroeder is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Affirmative Immigration Paralegal to join our immigration law practice in Arizona. This role focuses on affirmative immigration matters and offers the opportunity to work with an experienced legal team on humanitarian and family-based cases.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of immigration law experience, preferably with affirmative matters.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency with case management software, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating with attorneys and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare humanitarian and family-based filings, including adjustment of status, U-visa filings, VAWA filings, family-based petitions, naturalization, consular processing, and other affirmative immigration-related cases.
  • Maintain effective and respectful client communications throughout the life of the case.
  • Proactively collaborate with the assigned attorney from the outset of each case to promote efficient case progression, including coordinating regular attorney/paralegal case review meetings to ensure alignment, clear communication, and timely completion of case tasks.
  • Identify required evidence and obtain necessary documentation from the client to ensure case completeness.
  • Organize and prepare declarations, exhibits, translations, and indexes in a clear and complete format for attorney review.
  • Finalize applications and evidentiary packets for submission after receiving and responding to feedback from the responsible attorney.
  • Calendar and monitor all case-related deadlines, government interviews, agency correspondence, and hearings.
  • Schedule attorney/client meetings when necessary or requested by the attorney.
  • Prepare files for attorneys attending immigration interviews.
  • Adhering to ethical rules regarding the appropriate role for a paralegal.
  • Effectively maintain organized electronic and paper files to safeguard client property.
  • Maintain consistent case notes and hourly timekeeping in the firm's cloud-based case management system to ensure a record of important client interactions and case-related events.
  • Uphold the firm's ethical standards, professional conduct expectations, and standard of excellence in all aspects of law firm practice.
