Job summary

Spire Inc. in St. Louis, MO seeks a Senior Analyst to support regulatory activities across all Spire utility jurisdictions. The role centers on financial modeling, rate case filings, and forecasting with close collaboration across Finance, Regulatory, and other functions.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting/finance background, five years of experience, and familiarity with GAAP, regulatory filings, and scenario analysis. Hybrid work arrangements and occasional travel are supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business discipline.
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or CFA) preferred.
• Five years of work experience in financial planning, corporate or utility accounting, or a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and validate financial models that support revenue requirement, cost of service, rate base, and rate design analyses for rate case filings and other regulatory proceedings across all jurisdictions.
• Support the preparation and filing of base rate proceedings and related reporting requirements in all jurisdictions in which we operate.
• Communicate with public service commission staff, consumer advocates, and other stakeholders regarding regulatory filings.
• Provide testimony, as needed, in general rate case proceedings and other regulatory filings.
• Work with various functions across the Company to prepare responses to data requests and inquiries from public service commission staff, consumer advocates, and intervenors.
• Assist in the timely and accurate completion of special projects assigned to the department. These projects may be financial or non-financial in nature and often require analyzing large volumes of data.
• Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis group on forecasting and scenario modeling to evaluate the timing and expected financial outcomes of regulatory treatment and rate filings.
• Monitor and research regulatory trends in the natural gas utility industry and prepare update memos and supporting analysis for leadership.
• Help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions in which we operate.
• Strong work ethic with a consistent, proactive approach and intellectual curiosity.
• Logical, analytical thinker who conducts the research needed to understand a problem, with the drive and ability to perform scenario analysis and develop solutions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial models and regulatory work product.
